Brief Description: 

Libya is an African country. The capital city of the country is Tripoli. The total area of land is 1759540 square km. The total population of the country is 65,00000.The official language is Arabic. It gained independence in 1951.

Brief History: 

At first Phoenician established trading posts in Libya. At that time merchants of Tyre developed commercial relations with the Barber tribe. The greatest Phoenician colony, carthage, had expended its hegemony across much of North Africa. The ancient Greeks, colonizing Eastern Libya, founded the city of Cyrene. It became one of the greatest intellectual and artistic centers of the Greek world and was famous for other branch of learning. After fall of Carthage, the kings of Numidia occupied the area .The Roman completed the conquest of the region under Augustus. Since Tripolitania was part of the Africa Nova Province, it was prosperous. Barber farmers of country side were thoroughly Romanized in language and custom.

Cyrenaica was conquered by the armies commanded by Amr Ibnal-As and renamed the Pentapolis, Barqa .They also took the command of Tripoli, but they withdraw later. Many Islamic dynasties controlled over Libya the following centuries .The Ummayads was overthrown by the Abbasids in 750 and Baghdad started to control Libya.

There was movement against Libyan government which started in 2011. The unrest spread all over the Libya inhering Tripoli. Mustafa Abdul Jalil became chief of the new Libya. Bengasi was said to be firmly in the hands of Zawiya was boarded by air force planes and army tanks and seized by Jamaliriya troops. Gaddafi threatened to destroy the protest movement in public appearance Icc issued an arrest warrant for Gaddafi on 27 June, 2011.

After the civil war The National Transitional council has been responsible for the transition of the administration of the governing of Libya. Libya celebrated its liberation on 23 October 2011. Jibril stepped down as expected the same day and Ali Tarhouni succeeded him.
