Italy is very strong economically. It`s area is 301338 square kilometers. The total population is about 60800000. The name of currency is Euro. 98% people are the followers of Roman Catholic. There are languages like Italian, German, France etc . The government system is parliamentary democracy. Rome is the capital city of Italy .
Brief History:
Italy is one of the powerful countries in the world. It is assumed that Liguria stock was the first to live there. Augustine divided Italy into II administrative regions. Waves of barbarian tribes began to invade in 15th century BC. There was development in the 10th century by the rise of the city. Cities grouped together in leagues to protect their commerce and industries. In 13th century, the struggle between Emperor Frederick II and the papacy divided the cities and nobles into two strong parties. The warfare marked the end of imperial rule and the ascendancy of the papacy in Italy. The factional strife led to the rise of despots in some cities.
By the end of 15th century Italy had fallen into different chief component parts. The constant warfare resulted in political turmoil. France by Charles VIII, attacked Italy and began Italian wars which ended in 1559.After 1519 Italian War became part of the European struggle. The centuries of political weakness was also marked for economic decline. However Italian continued to have considerable influence on European culture especially in architecture and music. Italian national aspirations were rekindled by the French Revolution.
In the First World War Italy was neutral. Later for the substantial territorial rewards . Italy entered the war on the Allied side. There was political and social unrest within Italy furthering the growth of Fascism. The Fascist leader Mussolini promised the restoration of social and political greatness and directed a successful march on Rome. He was mad premier by the king. In the world War II, Italy followed aggressive foreign policy and Mussolini become militarist and imperialist after 1935.At the outset, Italy was neutralbut in 1940,it declared war on collapsing France and on Great Britain . In 1941 Italy declared war on the Soviet Union and on the United states .But it lost greatly In 1943, discontentment of Fascist grand council against Mussolini. In 1945,Mussolini was executed .
In 1945, a Christian Democrat called Alcide de Gasperi became premier. Following the war, Italy became good relationship with the West, joined the North Atlantic Treaty organization and European Economic Comity .Italy joined to United Nations in 1955.In 1962, preminar Amintoe Fanfani, a Christain Democrat, included the social democrats. Beginning in the late 1960s there was signicant industrial unrest .There were social unrest and terrorism in the 1970s .Neo-Fascisst terrorist struck  with a bomb blasts and assassinations . The 1970s was also a time of positive change Regional government were formal Divorec was legalized and eight years later,  abortion become legal.
